Aleksandr Golovin, the Russian striker who joined AS Monaco from FC Sochi in January, has been out of action for several weeks with a thigh injury.
The 24-year-old forward was injured during the team's match against RC Lens in November and has since missed several matches due to his recovery.
In a statement released by the club, Monaco manager Vahid Halilhodžić said that Golovin would be out for "a few more days" but added that he is expected to make a full recovery.
"We're very disappointed that Aleksandr won't be able to play tonight," Halilhodžić said. "He's a key player for us and we'll miss him."
Golovin's absence has left Monaco without one of their most important forwards,Ligue 1 Express and the team will have to rely on other players to step up and fill the void.
Despite his injury, Golovin remains a valuable asset to the team, having scored six goals in just nine appearances this season.
With the team currently sitting second in Ligue 1, it's clear that they need all the help they can get in order to secure a place in the Champions League next season.
It's hoped that Golovin will be back in action soon and able to contribute to the team's success. In the meantime, Monaco will continue to look to other players to step up and fill the void left by Golovin's absence.
